ASIA PACIFIC ENERGY AWARDS 2011

1st November 2011
T
he Asia Pacific Energy Awards (APEA) recognize innovation and business development in the fast-developing Asia Pacific region. As a largely developing economic region, particularly Asia, the expansion of economic growth is being fuelled by energy with fossil fuel the primary energy source. But the region is also climate conscious, with continuing investment into renewable and low carbon technologies. Consequently APEA recognizes and rewards developments across all energy resources and technologies.
The APEA is only open to businesses that have originated in the Asia Pacific region, with the mission of APEA being to promote and reward Asia Pacific energy business development.

Awards Process:
The APEA is a two-stage process, with a short-list of five companies and individuals being nominated by the Awards Panel and then voted on by the region’s energy professionals. The Awards panel will comprise recognized professionals across the Award categories, with each member of the panel being independent of the nominated short-list.

While other Award programmes invite nominations and then select a short-list from the nominations we believe this process will be unproductive for the more emergent energy sector in Asia Pacific. In our experience an open nomination process strongly favours larger and more established businesses that have the corporate communication resources to actively promote their businesses. It is also our experience that an open nomination process does not always provide a sufficient selection of candidates for the short-list, with any shortfall having to be made up by an Awards Panel.

One of the remits of the APEA is to reward all businesses, regardless of size and business maturity, and by employing an Awards Panel for the nomination process we believe the APEA will be more efficient and effective in producing the short-lists for each Awards category.

The Awards Panel will contact each nominated company or individual to invite them for inclusion in the short-list. Only when the business or individual accepts the nomination and is available to attend the Awards Ceremony will they be included in the short-lists. A brief introduction to each short-listed business will then be made available on the website to inform those voting.
